Research conducted in the Wiesner Group at Cornell University. Our work relates to developing nanoparticles for super-resolution imaging, particualrly imaging cancer cells. We developed a novel nanoparticle capable of imaging live-cells using STORM. Why should you care? Well, previosuly attaining high resolution, real-time images of live cells was impossible as all super-resolution imaging modalities required cell fixation (killing the cells). Our modality is non-cytotoxic which enables live-cell imaging. These nanoparticles have the potential to revolutioze the way cancer is diagnosed.
